The final episode of aerospace engineer and analog astronaut, Bailey Burns, Icelandic adventure is now available on the Celestial Citizen YouTube Channel!
Last December, Bailey went to the Explorers Festival held in HúsavÃk, Iceland. Organized by Space Iceland, the festival features a series of talks from explorers and scientists, as well as field research and excursions that allow participants to experience Iceland's unique landscapes.
In this next and final episode of our mini-series, Bailey explores HúsavÃk, tours a local geological site, and takes the international stage at the Explorers Festival! After some sight-seeing in Iceland and a flight back home, Bailey provides final thoughts on her training and time spent abroad.
And without further ado…here is the final installment of Celestial Expeditions!
Meet Bailey Burns
Bailey Burns is an Aerospace Engineer at Paragon Space working on life support for the future of humans in space. She is also a recent graduate of the Space Resources master’s program at the Colorado School of Mines. While there, her focus was on lunar regolith and dust mitigation on the lunar surface. Bailey has also participated in HI-SEAS as an analog astronaut studying lava tubes in a two-week simulated moon base mission, complete with lots of dehydrated food. Bailey hopes to use her platform to show everyone can bring their own skillset to the new space age, and have fun while doing it, which she does as an official Rubik’s cube ambassador.
