You've Got Mail meets Apollo 13: Launching Celestial Citizen Chat

Join our Celestial Citizen Substack Chat Community to talk all things space and society!

Hello Celestial Citizens,

We’ve been thinking hard about whether we should continue to use Twitter to engage with our community. While we plan on staying for now, it seems like a good time to announce that we’re launching our Substack chat to give you an alternative place to discuss space and society.

This exciting new community offering is called Chat, and it’s a private space in the Substack app to have conversations with me and each other. Think of it as a giant group chat just for Celestial Citizens!

Celestial Citizen Chat on Substack is a private place, free of ads and algorithms, where our community (both free and paid subscribers) can connect and share ideas, and also where our conversations will hopefully be easy but also meaningful. We hope you will consider joining this space and sharing your unique perspective on space exploration. 

So with that said, you may be wondering how it works. To join me:

• Download or update the free Substack app. (Right now, the iOS app is the only place you can join our Chat. They’re currently working an Android version for Chat, but it’s not quite there yet.)

• Tap on the Chat icon—it’s the second from the left and looks like a couple of chat bubbles (see below). That’s where I’ll share photos, pose questions, host Q&As, and everything else that doesn’t fit neatly into our newsletters. 

• Stay connected—You can send replies directly from the app and get push notifications for new updates.

I’ve already started my first chat thread so come on over and say hello!
